***NEW: PhD student position on early vision and attention***
We are seeking a PhD student to work on a scientific project funded by the special research fund at Ghent University on early vision and selective attention. The goal of this project is to characterize and model the gating of sensory information in the visual cortex as a function of selective attention. To this end, state of the art EEG methods will be used in adult participants (in combination with psychophysics), and mathematical models able to estimate and model dynamical interactions in the visual cortex (such as Dynamic Causal Modeling) will be harnessed. This project is led by Prof. Gilles Pourtois and Prof. Daniele Marinazzo.
Start date: 1 October 2023
Duration: 4 years
Location: CAPLAB – Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium (https://www.cap-lab.be/)
Salary: about € 2.400 per month
Requirements:
*A master degree in Experimental Psychology or Biomedical Sciences
*Strong research skills (data collection, processing and statistical analyses)
*Programming skills (e.g. Matlab, R, Python)
*Ability to work independently in an international and multidisciplinary work environment
*Excellent writing and communication skills in English
*Prior experience with EEG and/or eye-tracking is a plus
Interested? Please email to gilles.pourtois@ugent.be a cover letter in support of your application, along with an academic curriculum vitae, the contact details of two references, as well as your transcripts and diplomas for bachelor and master degrees. Application deadline is 31 July 2023.
